Virginia Gilton 2016 Region Tournament Medalist

The Jackson College Women's golf team traveled to Columbus State over the weekend to take on the Cougars for the Region XII championship.  It was a tough 3 rounds weather wise, with the temperatures only reaching 53 degrees and with wet and windy conditions, it made for a challenging 2 days of golf.   Even though the team finished second place to Columbus State, Virginia Gilton was the medalist for the weekend firing a 85, 78, 80 in the three rounds.  She beat the next closest golfer by 11 shots.  Virginia played an outstanding weekend of golf in tough weather conditions.  Megan Solomon, Lizzie Thompson and Baylee Buckels set personal best low rounds against the cougars.  Coach Masten "I could not be more proud of the way the team finished the season."  He has a few of the golfers coming back next fall, and an excellent looking incoming class.  "I am looking forward to what next fall's golf season will bring," said Head Coach Masten.
