Daniels, a veteran bowler of over 17 years, is a graduate of Northwest High School where he bowled for four years. He continued his studies at Grand Valley State University for business administration, and also bowled there and was vice president of the bowling club. He returned to Northwest to coach varsity bowling for the past four years. Today he manages Suburban Lanes bowling alley on Ann Arbor Road, owned by his parents, Ron and Cindy Daniels.

Jackson College Athletic Director Heather Bateman had approached Daniels about Suburban Lanes being the host site for the new College bowling program. He became interested in the position through their discussion and applied for the post. "I'm very excited," he said. "It's been difficult to stay quiet about it! It's been an exciting time."

Jackson is a popular bowling community, and the State of Michigan is the number one state for high school bowlers in the nation. So, it's very fitting that Jackson College offer a bowling program, Daniels said. There is a great deal of talent in Jackson and the surrounding areas.

"The talent level here in Jackson is very good, and in the surrounding areas, a 30- to 45-mile radius, there are several champions and team state champions. I think we can be really competitive on a college level. With the talent that is around here, I feel we can be competitive our first year."
