Baseball takes win over KVCC in MCCAA tourney

Jackson College Jets baseball's bats were hot Thursday in their MCCAA Championship/Seeding Tournament game against Kalamazoo Valley CC in Caledonia.

The Jets had 15 hits to score 11 runs, defeating the KVCC Cougars 11-7. For a full wrapup of the action, visit here.

Jets soaring high with wins

The Jets baseball team won two against St. Clair County Community College on April 29 there, 7-0 in the first and 6-1 in the second.

In the first game, the Jets scored in the first and second innings, and two run each in the fourth and fifth innings. Pitcher Josh Markel got the win with a shutout, facing 26 batters, giving up five hits and striking out three. Phil Griffor and Kegan O'Brien hit doubles; Parker Murdie, Phil Griffor (2), Marion Hines (2), Hunter Teunion-Smith all scored runs. In the second game, the Jets scored early in the first inning, then two runs in the third, two in the fifth and one in the seventh to overtake St. Clair. Carlos Agens hit for a double, and scoring runs were Murdie (2), Griffor, Watson, Kegan O'Brien, and Zac Capaldi. Pitcher Xavier Hovinen got the win, facing 25 batters, giving up four runs and striking out six.

Jets split pair with St. Clair County

The Jets baseball team split a pair with St. Clair County Community College April 27, losing 9-4 in the first and winning the second 15-12.

St. Clair came out strong in the first game, scoring four runs in the first inning, one in the second and another four in the third. The Jets scored once in the first, twice in the sixth and once in the seventh. At the plate, Dylan Watson and Joshua Beck both his doubles, while Parker Murdie, Phil Griffor, Hunter Teunion-Smith, Marion Hines and Ty Peck all had hits also. Watson, Hines and Beck scored the Jets' three runs. Pitcher Brandon Schulze took the loss, facing four batters and giving up one hit.

The Jets came back in the second game, scoring seven games in the first inning, adding two in the fourth, three in the sixth and three in the eighth. Jets Dylan Watson, Carlos Agens, Marion Hines and Joshua Beck all had home runs. Watson, Hines, Peck and Teunion-Smith also hit doubles. Pitcher Alex Slomski got the win, facing four batters and giving up no hits.

Jets win 2 in double-header with Delta

The Jackson College Jets men's baseball team took two wins over Delta College April 26, 11-0 and 13-2.

In the first game, the Jets scored big in the third and fourth innings, with 4 and 7 runs in each, to give them their 11 for the game. Pitcher Luke Hargis pitched a shutout for the win, facing 19 batters and allowing only four hits, striking out five. Dylan Watson and Carlos Agens both hit doubles for the Jets.

In the second game, the Jets came out strong in the first inning, scoring eight runs. They picked up another three in the second and two in the fourth to give them 13 in the game. Delta College picked up two runs in the third. The Jets' bats were on fire, with 11 hits on the game; Parker Murdie, Josh Terry, Dylan Watson, Agens, Hunter Teunion-Smith (2) and Roberto Ortega all had doubles. Watson and Agens both hit home runs. Pitcher Remington Monce got the win for the Jets, facing 21 batters and giving up five hits while striking out seven.

Jets split pair with Delta College

The Jackson College Jets men's baseball team split a pair with Delta College on April 24, losing 1-9 in the first game and coming back to win 7-0 in the second.

The first game saw the Delta College pitcher Grant Dittmer limit to the Jets to one run on two hits, while striking out 10. Jets Hunter Teunion-Smith had a double, while Marion Hines hit a single. Pitcher Alex Slomski took the loss for the Jets.

In the second game, the Jets pitching managed to shut out the Pioneers, who couldn't score on four hits.  Teunion-Smith and Zac Capaldi each had two hits, while Parker Murdie, Dylan Watson, Marion Hines, Kegan O'Brien, and Ty Peck each had a hit. Watson, Zapaldi, Teunion-Smith (2), Hines and O'Brien each scored runs. Pitcher Josh Markel took the win, facing 28 batters in seven innings.

Jets soar to wins over Schoolcraft

The Jackson College Jets won two over the Schoolcraft College Ocelots April 22, 12-7 and 11-9.

In the first game, Kegan O'Brien had three runs, Parker Murdie, Phil Griffor and Anthony Parker each had two runs, and Marion Hines, Hunter Kominek and Roberto Ortega each had one. Griffor also had three RBI. Winning pitcher was Kohle Sobol, who faced seven batters and gave up one hit.

In the second game, Parker Murdie scored three runs on four hits, while Dylan Watson scored three on three hits, including a home run. Hunter Teunion-Smith scored two runs, and Marion Hines, Roberto Ortega and Josh Markel each scored one run, including a home run by Hines.

Pitcher Elliott Edsall got the win, facing 17 batters and allowing four hits. Teunion-Smith got a save.

Lansing tops Jackson in double-header

The Jackson College Jets dropped two to the Lansing Community Stars April 21, losing the first game 2-8 and the second 4-5.

The Jets had six hits in the first game, coming from Dylan Watson (2), Hunter Teunion-Smith, Marion Hines, Joshua Beck. Ty Peck and Parker Murdie scored runs. Taking the loss was pitcher Trevor Macdonald, who faced 15 batters and gave up four hits.

In the second game, the Jets had six hits, including doubles from Parker Murdie and Dylan Watson. Murdie and Watson scored runs, while Carlos Agens scored two runs. Dylan Watson was the losing pitcher, facing eight batters and giving up two hits.

Jets split pair with Lansing

The Jackson College Jets split a double-header with the Lansing Community College Stars April 20, dropping the first game 3-9 and coming back to win the second 8-4.

Marion Hines had two runs batted in on one hit in the first game, while Trevor MacDonald had one hit and one RBI. Pitcher Luke Hargis took the loss for the Jets, facing 27 batters and giving up seven hits.

In the second game, jets Dylan Watson and Zac Capaldi both hit home runs, while Watson also had a double. Watson had four RBI, Joshua Beck two RBI, and Capaldi and Ty Peck each had one RBI. Winning pitcher was Remington Monce.

Mott CC at Jackson College

The Jets baseball team took two from Mott Community College at home Sunday, winning 13-4 in the first and 9-6 in the second game.

Second-baseman Josh Terry scored 3 runs in the first game and has 2 runs batted in, on two doubles, two singles and one sacrifice fly. Trevor MacDonald, Carlos Agens, Marion Hines and Anthony Parker all scored 2 runs each, while Zac Capaldi and Dylan Watson each scored 1 run. Pitcher Luke Hargis got the win for the Jets, facing 22 batters, allowing 4 hits and striking out 3 in 5 innings.

In the second game, Terry scored 2 runs, while Ty Peck, Hines, Agens, Hunter Teunion-Smith, Phil Griffor, Joshua Beck, Parker and Josh Markel each scored 1 run. Pitcher Brandon Schulze got the win for the Jets, while Remington Monce had the save.

Jackson College Jets baseball team continued their winning ways Tuesday, April 10, defeating the Albion College JV team 17-13.

The Jets' bats were hot for the day. Hunter Teunion-Smith and Dylan Watson each scored home runs. Josh Terry, Trevor MacDonald and Teunion-Smith all scored 3 runs each, while Watson, Hunter Kominek, Ty Peck and Marion Hines each scored 2 and Zac Capaldi, Phil Griffor and Carlos Agens scored 1 run each. Pitcher Cole Haynes got the win, while Alex Slomski had a save.

The Jackson College Jets lost a game Wednesday to Ivy Tech CC Northeast, 16-24.

Dylan Watson scored 3 runs including one home run, while Trevor MacDonald, Phil Griffor, Hunter Teunion-Smith and Ty Peck each scored 2 run, and Josh Terry, Zac Capaldi, Hunter Kominek, Kegan O'Brien and Marion Hines each scored 1.  Pitcher Kyle Andreen got the loss for the Jets, facing 16 batters.

The Jets are 5-3 in the MCCAA East for the season, and 14-9 overall.


Jackson College at Adrian College JV

The Jackson College Jets soared over the Adrian College JV team Tuesday, March 27, winning 18-7.

A strong offense helped the Jets to win. Zac Capaldi, Joshua Beck, Parker Murdie, and Phil Griffor each had two runs batted in, which Hunter Kominek, Kegan O'Brien, Ryan Sommers, Josh Terry and Marion Hines each had 1 RBI. Hines was strong at bat, hitting a triple and two doubles. Capaldi and Roberto Ortega also hit doubles.

Pitcher Cole Haynes took the win, pitching one inning and facing five batters.

With the win, the Jets are 10-7 overall this season.


Jackson College at Mott Community College

3/30/18

The Jackson College Jets split a pair with Mott Community College in Flint Friday, March 30, winning the first game 5-2 and dropping the second 12-0.

In the first game, Kegan O'Brien and Marion Hines both had 2 runs batted in, while Josh Terry had a sacrifice fly. Pitcher Luke Hargis pitched all 7 innings for the win, facing 28 batters and giving up only 2 hits.

In the second game, the Jets had only 4 hits and didn't manage to score any runs. Mott's bats came alive with 15 hits and 12 runs scored. Pitcher Evan Gates got the win for Mott, pitching 4 innings and facing 13 batters. Remington Monce took the loss for the Jets, pitching just 1.1 inning and facing 13 batters.

After the pair, the Jets record is 3-3 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Conference, and 11-8 overall.

The Jackson College men's baseball team celebrated a decisive win over the Adrian College JV team Tuesday, 18-7.

Jets players Zac Capaldi, Joshua Beck, Parker Murdie and Phil Griffor each had two runs batted in, while Hunter Kominek, Kegan O'Brien, Ryan Sommers, Josh Terry and Marion Hines each had 1 RBI. Hines hit for two doubles, a single and a triple on the day.

Pitcher Cole Haynes got the win, facing five batters and giving up just one base-on-ball.

The Jets are 10-7 on the season overall, 2-2 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference.

After coming off two wins the day before, the Jackson College Jets baseball team dropped two to the Macomb Community College Monarchs Saturday.

Score for the first game was 0-10 in favor of Macomb. Monarchs pitcher Devin Dudal threw a no-hitter against the Jets for the win.

Score for the second game was 5-7 in favor of Macomb. For the Jets, Tyler Menrath had two runs batted in on two doubles, while Max Schulte, Kyle Matynka, Kamrin Markwardt, Darren Rydzewski and Tanner Rutledge each had 1 RBI. Picher Dylan Watson took the loss for the Jets, while the Monarchs' Devin Dudal took the win.

In game two, the Jets won 13-3. Kegan O'Brien had three runs batted in, while Watson, Hines and Beck each had 1 RBI. Parker Murdie, O'Brien and Beck each had doubles.
