Turnovers, Free Throws Haunt Delta
Men still in search of first win for 2015-16
University Center, MI – The Delta College men's basketball team is still searching for its first victory on the season after a 82-68 defeat at the hands of Jackson Community College on Saturday. The loss drops their record to 0-4 on the young year while Jackson improves to 2-3. According to head coach Carlos McMath, turnovers and missed free throws continue to plague the Pioneer effort.
"I believe we have to keep our process and continue to build accountability for our shortcomings in those two areas."
Delta trailed at the half, 36-27 and could get no closer as the Jets pulled away in the second stanza.
"We have to play with better control of the game and within ourselves. I believe as a coaching staff we must make some big adjustments and simplify a lot of things so we can become more efficient," said McMath.
The Pioneers were led by Tyler Ellis with 14 points and 4 rebounds while Martel Handley chipped in with 11. The Pioneers will next play host to Lansing Community College on Monday November 30th. Tip off is scheduled for 7pm.
